Hourlydaily

Hourlydaily is a term used in data engineering and analytics to describe data products, dashboards, or pipelines that provide both hourly and daily time granularity from a common source of timestamped measurements. The name is a portmanteau of hourly and daily, indicating multi-granularity access from a single dataset.

In typical use, an hourlydaily workflow ingests raw events with timestamps and produces two parallel time series: an hourly series that aggregates observations by hour (for example, total, average, min, and max per hour) and a daily series that aggregates by calendar day. This approach supports analyses that require fine-grained inspection as well as broader summaries without duplicating data collection effort.

Common applications include energy consumption monitoring, where meters report more frequently than daily; weather stations providing hourly measurements and daily summaries; and web analytics or financial data where both hourly activity and daily totals are needed.

Data modeling for hourlydaily often includes fields such as timestamp, value, unit, and optional metadata. Each record may carry both hourly_aggregate and daily_aggregate metrics or be stored in separate tables with linked keys. ETL or ELT pipelines may compute hourly and daily rollups from raw event data.

Because hourlydaily is not a standardized term, implementations vary by platform and organization. The concept emphasizes multi-granularity time series and can be extended to include other intervals, such as minute or weekly aggregates.
