Horna

Horna is a Finnish black metal band from Suonenjoki, Finland, formed in 1993. The band's music style is characterized by its raw, lo-fi production and dark, satanic lyrics. Horna's early work was influenced by the Swedish black metal scene, and they have often been compared to bands such as Marduk and Dark Funeral.

Horna's debut album, "Höyryykö Kaamos" (1999), was released on their own label, Trollskau, and was well-received by the underground metal scene. The album's raw, DIY production added to its charm and helped to establish Horna as a prominent force in the Finnish black metal scene.

Throughout the 2000s, Horna continued to release music at a prolific pace, with albums such as "Masque of the Red Death" (2001) and "Rusko Ruoska" (2003). Their music often explored themes of darkness, death, and the occult, and their lyrics frequently referenced Finnish folklore and mythology.

In 2007, the band's founder, Magus, departed from Horna due to differences in musical direction, leading to a change in the band's style and sound. Under the leadership of Magus' successor, as the master vocalist Pest, Horna continued to evolve and experiment with new sounds and styles.

Horna's music has been praised for its raw intensity and spiritual depth, and the band has maintained a loyal following in the underground black metal scene. While not as widely known as some of their Scandinavian counterparts, Horna has earned a reputation as one of the most influential and innovative bands in the Finnish black metal scene.
