Homotópiákat

Homotópiákat is a concept in algebraic topology that describes a continuous deformation between two topological spaces or between two continuous maps. Essentially, a homotopy between two maps f and g from a space X to a space Y is a continuous function H from the product space X × [0,1] to Y such that for every point x in X, H(x,0) = f(x) and H(x,1) = g(x). The parameter 't' in [0,1] can be thought of as time, and H(x,t) represents the position of the point x at time t during the deformation from f to g.

Two maps are said to be homotopic if such a continuous deformation exists. This notion of equivalence is fundamental in algebraic topology as it allows us to classify topological spaces and maps based on their topological properties that are preserved under continuous deformation. For example, if two maps are homotopic, they induce the same homomorphism between their homology or homotopy groups.

A closely related concept is a homotopy equivalence, which is a pair of maps f: X → Y and g: Y → X such that their compositions g ∘ f and f ∘ g are homotopic to the identity maps on X and Y, respectively. Spaces that are homotopy equivalent are considered to be topologically indistinguishable in many contexts. This means they share many important topological invariants, such as their homotopy groups, homology groups, and fundamental group. The study of homotópiákat provides powerful tools for understanding the global structure of topological spaces.
