Homokzsákkal refers to a method of sandbagging, commonly employed in various contexts to provide temporary or permanent protection. The term itself, derived from Hungarian, literally translates to "with a sandbag." This technique involves filling durable fabric bags, typically made of burlap or polypropylene, with sand. These filled sandbags are then stacked and arranged to create barriers.

The primary use of homokzsákkal is for flood control. When a flood is imminent, sandbags are deployed along riverbanks, coastlines, or around vulnerable structures to create a physical dam.
