HomeKit is Apple's framework for configuring, controlling, and automating smart home devices. Introduced in 2014 as part of iOS, it provides a standardized way for iPhone, iPad, Siri, and other Apple devices to communicate with compatible accessories through the HomeKit Accessory Protocol (HAP). Accessories must be certified by Apple to ensure compatibility, security, and privacy.
