Holterinspelare
Holterinspelare, often referred to as a Holter monitor, is a portable medical device used for continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) recording over an extended period, typically 24 to 48 hours. It is designed to capture a detailed rhythm strip of a patient's heart activity that might not be apparent during a standard, short-term ECG performed in a clinical setting. The device consists of electrodes placed on the chest that transmit electrical signals from the heart to a small, battery-powered recording unit. This unit is worn by the patient, usually clipped to their belt or worn around their neck, allowing them to maintain their normal daily activities. The recorded data is later analyzed by a healthcare professional to identify and assess any cardiac abnormalities, such as arrhythmias, that may occur intermittently. This diagnostic tool is crucial for patients experiencing symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, or fainting, where the cause may not be evident during a brief examination. The information gathered from a Holter monitor provides valuable insights into the heart's electrical behavior under various conditions, aiding in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
