Hofbräu

Hofbräu, short for Staatliches Hofbräuhaus zu München, is a historic brewery and beer hall brand based in Munich, Germany. The brewery originated as the Royal Court Brewery (Königlich Bayerische Hofbräu) established in 1589 by Duke Wilhelm V to supply beer to the Bavarian court. Over time the facility expanded, and the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl became a public beer hall and restaurant, helping to popularize the Hofbräu name beyond the court.

Today, Hofbräu München operates as a major producer of traditional Bavarian beers. Its product line includes several varieties such as Hofbräu Original (a Munich lager), Hofbräu Dunkel, Hofbräu Weisse (a wheat beer), and seasonal or special brews, including a version marketed for Oktoberfest. Beers are produced in Munich and distributed domestically and internationally.

The Hofbräuhaus at Platzl is itself a landmark, known for its large halls, live music, and traditional Bavarian cuisine.
