Hodna

Hodna is a region in northeastern Algeria, characterized by a large, shallow, and ephemeral salt lake, Chott Hodna, and its surrounding arid plains. This chott, which means salt lake in Arabic, is a significant feature of the landscape, often dry for much of the year but capable of filling with water after heavy rains, transforming the area into a wetland. The ecology of Hodna is adapted to these fluctuating conditions, supporting a variety of flora and fauna, particularly migratory birds that utilize the chott as a stopover point.

The largest town in the vicinity is M'Sila, which serves as the administrative center for the M'Sila Province, encompassing the Hodna region.
