Hockeyligan

Hockeyligan is a professional ice hockey league in Sweden, established in 1975. It is the top tier of Swedish ice hockey and is part of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), which also includes the HockeyAllsvenskan as the second tier. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation, with the top team in Allsvenskan being promoted to Hockeyligan and the bottom team in Hockeyligan being relegated.

The Hockeyligan consists of 12 teams, with each team playing 55 regular-season games. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs, which determine the Swedish champion. The playoffs are a best-of-seven series, with the first round featuring the top four seeds playing the fourth to seventh seeds, and the second round featuring the remaining top two seeds playing the winners of the first round.
