Hochohmiger

Hochohmiger is a German adjective meaning "high-resistance". It describes an electrical component or material that offers significant opposition to the flow of electric current. This opposition is quantified by its electrical resistance, measured in ohms. Components with high resistance are often used in circuits to limit current, divide voltage, or as part of sensitive measurement systems.

In practical applications, high-resistance components are found in various forms. Resistors are explicitly designed to have specific resistance values, and "hochohmiger" would refer to resistors with values in the kilo-ohm (kΩ), mega-ohm (MΩ), or even giga-ohm (GΩ) range. Insulators, such as rubber or plastic, are also considered highly resistive materials. Their purpose is to prevent current from flowing where it is not intended.
