Hochmah

Hochmah, also known as Chokhmah, is a Hebrew word found in Kabbalistic tradition, often translated as "wisdom." It represents the second of the ten Sephirot in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, a divine emanation that follows Keter, the crown. Hochmah is understood as a primordial, boundless wisdom, the divine spark of intellect and creative insight. It is often depicted as a masculine principle, corresponding to the masculine aspect of the divine, while its counterpart, Binah, represents understanding and the feminine aspect.

In Kabbalistic thought, Hochmah is the source of all potential, the initial flicker of consciousness that precedes manifestation. It is seen as the pure, unadulterated wisdom of the Creator, containing the blueprint for all existence. This Sephirah is associated with the right pillar of the Tree of Life, a path of expansion and outward force. It is considered the initial impulse that drives the creative process, the seed from which all forms emerge. While Keter is the absolute will, Hochmah is the creative spark that gives this will its initial form. It is a concept of pure, unmanifested wisdom, existing before thought or form.
