Iron deficiency in plants causes chlorosis, where leaves turn pale or yellow between the veins.

In humans and animals, nutrient deficiencies can have a wide range of health consequences. Vitamin deficiencies are well-known examples, such as scurvy caused by a lack of vitamin C, which results in fatigue, bleeding gums, and poor wound healing. Iron deficiency anemia, characterized by fatigue and paleness, is another common example.
