Hizkiel

Hizkiel is a prominent figure in the Hebrew Bible, specifically within the collection of prophetic books. He is the author of the Book of Ezekiel, a lengthy prophetic text attributed to him. The book details his visions, prophecies, and symbolic actions, which often convey messages of judgment and eventual restoration for the people of Israel.

Hizkiel was a priest by lineage, as stated in the opening verses of his book, and he prophesied during the Babylonian exile. He was among the Judeans deported to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar II in the early 6th century BCE. His prophetic ministry began around 593 BCE, shortly after his arrival in exile, and continued for over two decades.

His prophecies often address the sins of the people of Judah and the impending destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Hizkiel's visions are known for their symbolic richness and dramatic imagery, including a vision of a valley filled with dry bones that are brought back to life, symbolizing the revival of the nation of Israel.
