Hivatásszer

Hivatásszer is a Hungarian neologism formed from the noun hivatás (vocation, profession) and the agentive suffix -szer. It is not a standard term and is rarely attested in major dictionaries or corpora. When it appears, it tends to be in discussions about careers, vocational guidance, or sociolinguistic analysis as an experimental or speculative coinage rather than an established category.

Possible interpretations depend on context. One reading treats hivatásszer as an agent noun meaning “one who deals with or supports a vocation”—for example a career counselor, a trade association official, or an organizer of professional life. A second reading posits a more abstract sense: “a person defined by or living through a vocation”—someone whose identity is centered on their profession rather than other social roles.

Because it is not standardized, its meaning is not fixed and should be clarified by the author using it. In formal writing, it would be advisable to define the term at first use and provide examples or context to avoid ambiguity.
