Hitsaustäyteainetta

Hitsaustäyteainetta is the Finnish term for welding filler material. It is a consumable used in welding processes to join two or more metal parts together. The filler material is typically a metal rod, wire, or powder that melts and fuses with the base metals being joined, forming a strong metallurgical bond. The composition of the filler material is crucial as it is chosen to be compatible with the base metals being welded and to achieve desired mechanical properties in the weld joint, such as strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance.

Different types of welding processes utilize specific forms of filler material. For example, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), often called stick welding, uses coated electrodes which are consumed during welding. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), or MIG welding, uses a continuous wire electrode that is fed through the welding gun. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), or TIG welding, typically uses separate filler rods that are manually fed into the weld pool. Submerged arc welding (SAW) can use wire electrodes or powders.
