Hindajate

Hindajate is a term used in the Estonian language, most commonly encountered as the genitive plural of hindaja, a noun meaning a person who evaluates, assesses, or judges. The base verb hindama means “to value, to assess.” The nominative plural of hindaja is hindajad, while the genitive plural is hindajate. Hindajate is typically seen when indicating possession or association with evaluators, for example hindajate arv meaning “the number of evaluators” and hindajate hinnang meaning “the evaluation by the evaluators.”

In ordinary usage, hindaja and its inflected forms refer to professionals such as inspectors, assessors, critics, or jurors, depending on the context. They appear in legal, financial, insurance, and cultural discussions where evaluation or judgment is involved. The sense can also be metaphorical, describing any group or body responsible for evaluation or critique.
