Hilfsspannung
Hilfsspannung, often translated as auxiliary voltage or control voltage, refers to a low-voltage electrical supply used for control and auxiliary functions within a larger electrical system. It is distinct from the main power voltage that drives machinery or appliances. Hilfsspannung circuits are typically found in industrial control panels, power distribution systems, and complex electronic devices. The primary purpose of Hilfsspannung is to safely operate control elements such as relays, contactors, sensors, and logic circuits. By using a lower voltage, the risk of electric shock to personnel is significantly reduced during maintenance or troubleshooting. Common Hilfsspannung levels include 24V DC, 110V AC, and 230V AC, though other values may be used depending on specific application requirements and regional standards. These voltages are generated by transformers, power supplies, or dedicated auxiliary generators.
