Hetuvada

Hetuvada is a term used in Indian philosophy, particularly within the Nyaya school, to denote a fallacious reasoning or a flawed argument. It is essentially a logical fallacy that weakens or invalidates a conclusion. The Nyaya school, which focuses on logic and epistemology, meticulously analyzes various types of hetuvada to ensure sound reasoning and valid knowledge acquisition.

There are several categories of hetuvada, each representing a different kind of logical error. Common examples include the hetvabhasa, which refers to a reason that appears to be valid but is not.
