Hersirs
Hersirs were a class of freemen in medieval Scandinavia, particularly associated with Viking Age society. The term itself is of Old Norse origin and is often translated as "lord," "chieftain," or "master." Hersirs were distinguished by their land ownership and their ability to raise and lead a body of men, often referred to as a "hird." This hird served as their personal retinue, acting as warriors and advisors.
