Herdplatte
Herdplatte refers to the cooking surface of a stove or hob. It is the part of the appliance where pots and pans are placed to heat food. Herdplatten can be made from various materials and employ different heating technologies. Common types include electric resistance coils, ceramic glass surfaces with radiant or halogen elements beneath, and induction surfaces. Electric coil herdplatten are typically found in older or more basic models. Ceramic glass herdplatten offer a smooth, easy-to-clean surface and can be heated by radiant elements that glow red or halogen lamps that provide quick heat. Induction herdplatten are a more modern technology where an electromagnetic field directly heats the cookware, making them highly energy-efficient and responsive. The control knobs or touch controls for the herdplatte allow users to adjust the heat intensity for each cooking zone. Safety features such as residual heat indicators are also common on many herdplatten, warning users when the surface is still hot after use.
