Hensikten

Hensikten is a Norwegian noun meaning “the purpose” or “the aim.” It is the definite singular form of hensikt and is used to refer to the intended outcome of an action, plan, or policy. The term appears across formal and informal registers.

In philosophy, hensikten is used in discussions of teleology and intentionality, focusing on the reasons behind actions. In law, governance, and policy, phrases such as “hensikten med loven” describe the objective that statutes, regulations, or programs are designed to achieve.
