Helixantenni

Helixantenni, also known as a helical antenna, is a type of radio antenna where the radiating element is a helical wire. It is characterized by its shape, resembling a spring or a screw thread. This design allows the antenna to radiate circularly polarized electromagnetic waves. Circular polarization is advantageous in certain applications because it can reduce signal fading caused by multipath propagation and is less sensitive to the orientation of the transmitting and receiving antennas.

The dimensions of the helix, including its diameter, length, and the spacing between turns, determine the antenna's resonant frequency and its radiation pattern. Helixantennas can be designed to operate in axial mode, where the main radiation lobe is along the axis of the helix, or in normal mode, where the radiation is perpendicular to the helix axis. Axial mode antennas are more common due to their directional properties and ability to achieve circular polarization.

These antennas find applications in various fields, including satellite communications, radar systems, radio astronomy, and telemetry.
