Helheimr
Helheimr, also known as the Land of the Slain, is one of the Nine Realms in Norse cosmology, specifically the realm of the dead. It is located beneath the Earth and is ruled by Hel, the goddess of the underworld. Helheimr is a place of eternal winter, where the souls of those who have died a violent or dishonorable death are sent to dwell. The atmosphere is cold and bleak, with no sunlight and a perpetual twilight. The landscape is described as barren and desolate, with no vegetation or wildlife. The inhabitants of Helheimr are known as the Einherjar, who are the souls of fallen warriors who have died in battle. They are bound to Hel's service and are destined to remain in Helheimr until Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods, when they will be released to fight alongside the gods in the final battle. Helheimr is a place of eternal suffering and despair, where the souls of the fallen are condemned to a life of eternal winter and darkness.
