Heinos

Heinos is a fictional archipelago used as a setting in contemporary fantasy literature and role-playing games. It is not a real place. In the lore, Heinos comprises seven volcanic islands arranged in a crescent around a sheltered inner sea. The climate is maritime temperate, with hot summers and frequent sea fog.

The political structure is a federated model: each island maintains its own council, and a High Conclave meets on the central island of Heinport to coordinate defense, trade, and long-term planning. The island of Heinport serves as the de facto capital, hosting guild halls, markets, and a rotating consulship elected every two years.

The economy centers on fisheries, geothermal energy, and crafts such as glassware and ropework. Trade routes connect the Heinos archipelago to neighboring polities through a network of coves and anchorages; salt, fish oil, and obsidian are common commodities.

The Heino language, or Heinari, is a maritime tongue with several dialects reflecting island identities. Cultural life centers on seafaring festivals, shipwrights' guilds, and an ancestral rite honoring sailors lost at sea. Local cuisine emphasizes salted fish, seaweed, and citrus.

Origin lore attributes the name to a legendary navigator named Heino, who is said to have founded the archipelago after a voyage. In fan communities, Heinos has become a flexible setting for world-building, with writers expanding its map, factions, and legends. Despite its fictional status, it has developed its own internal coherence and fan-generated material.
