Hectárea

Hectárea is a unit of area in the metric system, commonly used to measure land. It is derived from the prefix "hecto" meaning one hundred, and "are," which is a unit of area equal to 100 square meters. Therefore, one hectárea is equivalent to 10,000 square meters. This is also equal to 100 ares. Another common comparison is to the acre, an imperial unit of area. One hectárea is approximately 2.471 acres.

The hectárea is widely used in agriculture, forestry, and land surveying across the world. Its convenient size makes it suitable for measuring farms, forests, and other large land parcels.
