Hatzegopteryx
Hatzegopteryx is a genus of azhdarchid pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous Hațeg Basin of present-day Romania. It is one of the largest pterosaurs known, with estimates for its wingspan around 10 to 12 meters (roughly 33 to 39 feet) and a body size that classifies it among the giant pterosaurs. The genus is based on cranial and postcranial material recovered from the Hațeg deposits, and the type species is Hatzegopteryx thambema. The name combines Hațeg, the locality, with pteryx, meaning wing.
Anatomy and classification follow the azhdarchid pattern, characterized by long necks and extended jaws. Hatzegopteryx appears
