Harztor is a municipality in the district of Nordhausen, in Thuringia, Germany. It was formed on January 1, 2015, by the merger of the former municipalities of Ilfeld and Neustadt/Harz. The name "Harztor" translates to "Harz Gate," reflecting its location at the northern edge of the Harz mountain range.
