Hartmannin

Hartmannin is a rare automotive accessory that was used in the past to automatically park vehicles in designated spaces. It consists of a combination of a sensor, motor, and control unit, which work together to accurately maneuver the vehicle into a parking space.

The Hartmannin system was developed in the 1950s and was initially installed in motor vehicles manufactured by the German company, Hartmann, from whom it got its name. The system was designed to be a convenience feature for drivers, allowing them to effortlessly park their vehicles without having to manually align them with the parking space.

The Hartmannin system used a sensory system that included ultrasonic sensors, infrared sensors, and a camera, to detect the surroundings of the vehicle and determine the optimal parking position. Once the system was calibrated, the vehicle's transmission and steering system could be remotely controlled to align the vehicle with the space.

The Hartmannin system was never widely adopted, likely due to technical limitations and concerns about safety and reliability. Additionally, the rise of automated parking systems in modern cars has made the Hartmannin system largely obsolete. Today, it is mostly of interest to collectors and enthusiasts of early automotive innovations.

A few prototype models of Hartmannin-equipped vehicles exist in museums and private collections, providing a glimpse into the evolutionary history of parking technology. However, the original Hartmannin production ceased in the 1960s, and the remaining units are highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and historic significance.
