Hardy-Ramanujan Number is a mathematical term used to describe a certain sequence of numbers that have a unique characteristic. This term is named after the mathematicians Godfrey Harold Hardy and Srinivasa Ramanujan. Hardy first discovered the property in 1919, while studying the work of Ramanujan.

The Hardy-Ramanujan numbers are a series of integers that appear in the sequence of numbers in a particular range, where the gap between consecutive numbers grows, unlike most mathematical sequences, where the difference remains constant or decreases as the sequence progresses. In other words, the difference between two consecutive terms in the sequence is greater as the sequence advances.

A mathematical equation describing the Hardy-Ramanujan number k can be stated as follows: (4^e)^k - (2^e)^k = 1. While it's not possible to actually calculate a Hardy-Ramanujan number, using approximations, a value of k can be determined.

Research has suggested that Hardy-Ramanujan numbers would appear toward the end of the list with a great number due to their often 'illogical' nature. Quickly, these numbers are getting large, making them not easily calculable by standard handheld or even many computer-based calculators.

There is ongoing mathematical interest in trying to calculate and identify Hardy-Ramanujan numbers.
