Hallorann

Hallorann is a fictional character created by Stephen King, appearing in his 1977 novel "The Shining" and its 1980 film adaptation. He is also featured in the sequel novel "Doctor Sleep" and its 2019 film adaptation.

In "The Shining," Hallorann is the hotel chef at the Overlook Hotel. He possesses "the shining," a psychic ability that allows him to communicate telepathically and perceive supernatural events. He recognizes this ability in Danny Torrance, the young son of the hotel's caretaker, Jack Torrance. Sensing danger from the hotel's malevolent forces and the growing instability of Jack, Hallorann telepathically warns Danny and eventually travels back to the Overlook to rescue him.
