HEVCpohjainen is a Finnish term meaning “HEVC-based.” In Finnish technical and media contexts it describes video processing, encoding, or distribution that uses the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard, also known as H.265. HEVC was developed by ITU-T VCEG and ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11 and published as ITU-T H.265 and ISO/IEC 23008-2. It offers substantially improved compression over H.264/AVC, enabling higher resolutions (including 4K and 8K) and higher bit depths, as well as flexible chroma formats.

HEVCpohjainen implementations may involve encoders, decoders, or pipelines that encode video with HEVC as the core codec. They are widely used in streaming services, broadcast workflows, and storage systems to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements while maintaining quality.
