HDR10HLG

HDR10+ HLS (also referred to as HDR10+ HLG) is a dynamic metadata-based High Dynamic Range (HDR) format that combines the dynamic metadata of HDR10+ with the static metadata of Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG).

HDR10+ is an open, royalty-free HDR format developed by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). It uses dynamic metadata to display HDR content in a way that is optimized for each device. HLG, on the other hand, is a broadcast standard for HDR that is designed to be transmitted over traditional broadcast infrastructure without the need for new equipment.

HDR10+ HLG combines the benefits of both formats by using the dynamic metadata of HDR10+ to display HDR content with a wide color gamut and high peak brightness, and the static metadata of HLG to ensure backwards compatibility with HLG devices.

HDR10+ HLG content is mastered in a wide color gamut (WCG) of up to 1.5 billion colors and can display peak brightness levels of up to 4,000 nits. It also supports the WCG standard, which is designed for viewing environments with good ambient lighting.

HDR10+ HLG is supported by several major consumer electronics manufacturers, including Samsung and LG. It has also been adopted by major streaming services, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

HDR10+ HLG is an extension of the HDR10+ format and offers similar benefits, including improved color accuracy and peak brightness levels. However, it also introduces the added benefit of compatibility with HLG devices, making it a more widely compatible format.
