It was developed by the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) as the first video compression standard under the joint name ITU-T H.264 and ISO/IEC MPEG-4 Part 10, Advanced Video Coding (AVC).
