Høyreskjev

Høyreskjev is a Norwegian term that translates to "right-skewed" in English. It is commonly used in statistics and probability to describe a type of probability distribution. A distribution is considered høyreskjev when the tail on the right side of the distribution is longer or fatter than the tail on the left side. This means that extremely large values are more likely to occur than extremely small values.

In a høyreskjev distribution, the mean is typically greater than the median, which is in turn greater than the mode. This is because the extreme values on the right side pull the mean upwards. Examples of phenomena that often exhibit a høyreskjev distribution include income distributions, where a few high earners can significantly increase the average income, or the time it takes for a complex task to be completed, where most tasks are finished relatively quickly, but some take a very long time.
