Höhlenschächte
Höhlenschächte, or cave shafts, are vertical or near-vertical passages found within cave systems. They are distinct from horizontal passages, which are often carved by flowing water, as shafts are typically formed by dissolution processes in rock that is less susceptible to erosion by flowing water, or by other geological mechanisms. These can include faults, joints, or bedding planes that are enlarged by the percolation of water.
