Gyeongsangbukdo

Gyeongsangbukdo is a province located in the southeastern part of South Korea. It is one of the eight provinces that constitute the country. The province borders Gyeongsangnamdo to the south, Chungcheongnamdo to the west, and Gangwondo to the north and northeast. Gyeongsangbukdo also borders the Korean Demilitarized Zone to the east.

The name Gyeongsangbukdo can be literally translated to "Eastern Province of Gyeongsang Province". The province was formed in 1896, when the original Gyeongsang Province was split into two separate provinces, Gyeongsangbukdo and Gyeongsangnamdo. The province is relatively large in size, covering about 19,826 square kilometers.

Gyeongsangbukdo is home to a rich cultural heritage, with many historical and artistic relics throughout the province. The Sobaeksan, a 1,427-meter mountain that is part of the Taebaek Mountains, is a notable natural feature. The city of Gyeongju, situated within the province, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest cities in South Korea.

Gyeongsangbukdo has a significant agricultural output, accounting for a major portion of the country's total agricultural production. The Sangju city is the most prominent industrial area and is known for its coal and fluorescent tube production. The province has also made significant contributions to education services, providing institutions such as the Andong National University.
