Gure

Gure is a Basque possessive determiner meaning "our." It marks possession by the first-person plural and is used before a noun to indicate that something belongs to the speaker and at least one other person. It is one member of a set of Basque possessive determiners, which also includes nire ("my"), zure ("your"), bere ("his/her/its"), and zuen ("your" or "their"). The form gure is invariable and does not reflect the noun’s gender or number. In normal usage, it accompanies the noun directly and is followed by the noun’s own inflection, including definitive forms such as the -a suffix in etxea ("the house"): "gure etxea" means "our house." When the noun is plural or definite, the same possessive form is used: "gure seme-alabak" means "our sons and daughters." In Basque, the possessor precedes the possessed noun, and possessive marking is integrated with the noun’s case and definiteness.

Gure is widespread in Basque-speaking regions, including the Basque Country and parts of Navarre, where Basque
