Gummisammansättning refers to the process of mixing various ingredients with raw rubber to create a compound with specific desired properties. This compound is then used in the manufacturing of a wide range of rubber products. The selection and proportion of these ingredients are crucial and depend heavily on the intended application of the final product.

The primary ingredient is, of course, the raw rubber, which can be natural rubber derived from latex or synthetic rubber produced through chemical processes. Other essential components include vulcanizing agents, most commonly sulfur, which are vital for cross-linking the rubber molecules and giving the material its elasticity and strength. Accelerators are often added to speed up the vulcanization process, while activators, such as zinc oxide, enhance the effectiveness of the accelerators.

Fillers are another critical category of ingredients. Carbon black and silica are widely used to improve strength, abrasion resistance, and tear resistance, as well as to reduce cost. Plasticizers and oils are incorporated to improve processability, flexibility, and low-temperature performance. Antioxidants and antiozonants are added to protect the rubber from degradation caused by oxygen and ozone, thereby extending the product's lifespan. Pigments can be included to provide color.

The precise formulation of a rubber compound is a complex and proprietary process, often developed through extensive research and testing to meet stringent performance requirements for applications ranging from tires and hoses to seals, footwear, and medical devices.
