Gubiti

In addition to concrete objects, gubiti is commonly used with abstract nouns, for example gubiti vrijeme (to waste time) or gubiti snagu (to lose strength).

In these languages, gubiti has a related perfective counterpart, izgubiti, which emphasizes a completed act of losing.
