Guardamar

Guardamar del Segura is a municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. It is located on the Mediterranean coast at the mouth of the Segura River, within the Vega Baja del Segura comarca, and is part of the Costa Blanca tourist region.

The town is known for its long sandy beaches and a large dune system that runs along the coast, adjacent to pine forests. The dunes, protected as a municipal natural park, are one of the most notable natural features of the area and attract visitors for walking and birdwatching. The surrounding area shows evidence of ancient settlement from Iberian and Roman times.

The local economy is centered on tourism and services, with agricultural activity in inland areas, particularly citrus cultivation. The population tends to increase during the summer months due to seasonal visitors.

Guardamar del Segura is governed by a town council within the Valencian Community. The municipality includes urban and rural areas along the coast and offers recreational and cultural facilities, including beaches, promenades, and local festivals.
