Granulálással

Granulálással, in English often referred to as granulation, is a process used in various industries to agglomerate smaller particles into larger, more manageable aggregates called granules. This technique is employed to improve the physical properties of powders, such as flowability, compressibility, and density, while also reducing dust generation and facilitating easier handling and storage.

The primary mechanism of granulation involves introducing a binder solution or liquid to a powder mixture. This liquid coats the individual particles, causing them to stick together through capillary forces and surface tension. As the granules form, they are typically subjected to drying and sometimes milling or sieving to achieve a desired size distribution. Different types of granulation exist, including wet granulation, where a liquid binder is used, and dry granulation, which utilizes mechanical compression to form agglomerates without the addition of liquids.

Granulation is a crucial step in the manufacturing of many products. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is extensively used for tablet production, enhancing the uniformity and dissolution rate of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The food industry employs granulation for products like instant beverages, coffee, and cereals to improve their solubility and texture.
