Gotuvaty

Gotuvaty is the Ukrainian infinitive готувати, meaning to cook or to prepare food. In addition to cooking meals, the verb is used for general acts of preparation, such as preparing supplies or plans. The form is widely used in everyday speech and writing.

Etymology and related forms: The verb derives from the Old East Slavic root related to readiness and preparation, and it is cognate with Russian готовить (gotovit) and the adjective готовий (hotovyi, “ready”). A shortened future form is also used in speech, such as готуватиму (I will be cooking). The past tense has gendered and number forms: я готував/готувала/готувало/готували.
