The character first appeared in the 2014 graphic novel *Simo Häyhä – Suurimman sotamiehen tarina*, which tells the story of Simo Häyhä, a Finnish sniper during the Winter War (1939–1940). Gore-Texiä is a fictionalized representation of the Soviet sniper Grigory Petrovich Alexandrovich, known for his exploits against Finnish forces during the conflict.

The name "Gore-Texiä" is a playful Finnish pun combining the words "gore" (referencing his brutal reputation) and "texiä" (a Finnish slang term for a taxi driver, mocking his supposed mobility).
