Glødimørket is a Norwegian compound noun describing a specific type of twilight gloom that arises during the brief periods just before sunrise and after sunset. The word is formed from glød, meaning “glow” or “gleam,” and mørk, meaning “dark.” Together, the term captures the paradoxical feeling of darkness suffused with a faint, diffuse light that visitors to Norway often describe as “silver gray” or “soft blue.”
