Glykanenlike
Glykanenlike is a term used in biochemistry to describe molecules that share structural or functional similarities with glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). GAGs are a class of long, unbranched polysaccharides composed of repeating disaccharide units. These repeating units typically consist of an amino sugar (N-acetylglucosamine or N-acetylgalactosamine) and a uronic acid (glucuronic acid or iduronic acid), although some GAGs lack the amino sugar. Common examples of GAGs include hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate, heparan sulfate, heparin, and keratan sulfate. GAGs play crucial roles in the extracellular matrix, cell signaling, and tissue development.
Molecules referred to as "glykanenlike" may exhibit some of the characteristic features of GAGs but might differ
