Glipt
Glipt refers to a class of medications used to treat type 2 diabetes. These drugs are also known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. Gliptins work by increasing the levels of incretin hormones in the body. Incretins are hormones that stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin and reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver. DPP-4 is an enzyme that breaks down incretin hormones, so gliptins inhibit this enzyme, allowing incretins to remain active for longer. This leads to improved blood glucose control.
