Gleichstromverstärkung

Gleichstromverstärkung, often abbreviated as DC amplification, refers to the process of increasing the amplitude of a direct current signal. This is distinct from alternating current (AC) amplification, which deals with signals that change polarity over time. DC amplifiers are crucial in applications where a constant or slowly varying voltage needs to be significantly boosted.

The fundamental principle of DC amplification involves using active electronic components such as transistors or operational amplifiers. These components, when supplied with a DC power source, can take a small DC input signal and produce a larger DC output signal. The ratio of the output signal's amplitude to the input signal's amplitude is known as the DC gain.

A key challenge in DC amplification is the potential for drift. Careful circuit design and the use of stable components are necessary to minimize drift and ensure accurate amplification.
