Gjuhetarinë

Gjuhetarinë, often translated as "linguistics," is the scientific study of language. It encompasses a wide range of topics, including the structure of language (grammar and syntax), the meaning of words and sentences (semantics), the sounds of language (phonetics and phonology), and the use of language in social contexts (sociolinguistics). Linguists investigate how languages are acquired, how they change over time, and the cognitive processes involved in language production and comprehension.

The field is broadly divided into theoretical linguistics, which seeks to understand the fundamental principles of language, and applied linguistics, which uses linguistic theories to address practical problems such as language teaching, translation, and speech therapy. Subfields within linguistics include historical linguistics, which examines language evolution; psycholinguistics, which explores the relationship between language and the mind; and computational linguistics, which focuses on the computational modeling of language.

Linguistics employs a variety of methodologies, including data collection through fieldwork, experiments, and corpus analysis. By studying diverse languages from around the world, linguists aim to identify universal properties of human language and understand the vast diversity of linguistic expression.
