Ghiran

Ghiran is a historical region located in what is now northwestern Iran. It encompasses a mountainous and fertile territory known for its agricultural output and strategic importance throughout various periods of Persian history. The name Ghiran is believed to derive from ancient Persian words related to mountains or highlands.

The area has been inhabited since antiquity, with evidence of settlements dating back to pre-Achaemenid times. During the Sasanian Empire, Ghiran served as a frontier region and a source of resources for the empire.
