Gerec

Gerec is a fictional town and municipality in the northern Ardena region of the imagined country of Valoria. It has about 8,600 residents and covers 32 square kilometers. The town sits along the Gerec River and lies within a temperate, hilly landscape that influences its local climate and land use.

The name Gerec is thought to derive from an old Ardenic word meaning 'ford' or 'crossing', with the -ec suffix common to place names in the region. The etymology reflects Gerec's historical role as a river crossing.

Gerec was founded in the mid-12th century by merchant families and developed as a market town. The medieval core preserves narrow streets and a fortified town wall.
